About

David C. Flynn

—— Patent Holder in Electrical Engineering

David Flynn comes from an engineering background academically and by trade after years as a F-16 & B1 Bomber test engineer at Westinghouse.

After getting three patents awarded there for various test and electrical designs, he switched to computer science, completed several grad degrees, and is now in Cyber Security.

Twenty years ago, his first solar camper design was a 450 watt solar popup. Several campers and solar systems later, he has designed a full-time solar system that uses almost 2 kilowatts and 600 amp hours of LFP batteries.

Merging his penchant for electrical testing, patent design and solar has inspired the Eternal Solar effort to flesh out the real world living conditions while pushing this technology to the maximum. David has 5 books out on Amazon & Apple at www.sftag.net.

Our Mission

We want to help everyday campers with real-life solutions to living as off-grid as you want, as long as you want. We started with the question, “Can anyone really live in the 21st century using only a solar system and an ultralight camper?”

When we added the front solar array to our camper, we had so many requests for information about solar, how to use it, and what’s really needed for an efficient system, that we decided to start Eternal Solar. For fun, we added in life hacks for camping and reviews of places we’ve stayed.

Rosemary D. Flynn

—— Web guru, videographer, photographer and editor

While she had always thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors, Rosemary had never camped before meeting David. Their many adventures include traveling with the solarized camper, loaded biking touring, canoe camping, and skiing in the winter months. Their beach vacations involve running, swimming in the ocean together, and biking around the coastlines they are visiting.

Rosemary is always on the lookout for life hacks that make camping and traveling easier, and her product recommendations are the result of trial and error for someone starting from scratch at camping.

Together, she and David completed Outdoor Emergency Care training and are now National Ski Patrol Alumni.

Rosemary is a triathlete, having completed a half iron as her longest distance and competed in Age Group Nationals in 2017. She is a general class ham radio operator. She is a professional musician, and this website features photos taken by either her or David.

Why did we start the journey of fun in the sun?
